The Balandin Readings were established in 2006 in memory of the scientific legacy of Sergei Nikolayevich Balandin (1930–2004), Doctor of Architecture, Honored Architect of Russia, Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, and founder of the Museum of the History of Architecture of Siberia in Novosibirsk.

2026 is the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Siberian architect and civil engineer Andrei Dmitrievich Kryachkov (1876–1950).

Special topics for 2026:

1. The creative legacy of Andrei Dmitrievich Kryachkov. Kryachkov's projects and buildings in Siberian cities. New facts and interpretations.

2. Architectural modernism in Siberia and the former USSR. The first and second waves of modernism. The phenomenon of "national" modernism.
